Beth Lazor-Smith! The mention of her name conjures up a picture of her wonderful smile, warm heart and loving nature!
Having been inspired by Beth, a group of us planned to return to Washington, DC on October 25, 2020 to run the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) in her memory and raise critical funding for lung cancer research, advocacy and support programs for patients and caregivers.
With that race canceled due to CoVid-19, we aren't letting that stop us. We are still running our perfect marathon in our own communities to honor Beth (and the money we raise this year will count toward our fundraising minimum for a future Marine Corps Marathon!)
If you were fortunate to have known Beth, you know that this is a cause that was near and dear to her. Our mission is to keep her passion burning with each dollar raised and mile run.
The organization Beth was closely aligned with, Lung Cancer Alliance, merged last year with the Bonnie Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, to form the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer. GO2 Foundation transforms survivorship as the world’s leading organization dedicated to saving, extending, and improving the lives of those vulnerable, at risk, and diagnosed with lung cancer.
They work to change the reality of living with lung cancer by ending stigma, increasing public and private research funding, and ensuring access to care.
Whether you lace up for lungs and run with us (from where ever you are), or donate to our fundraising efforts, you will be doing something tangible to help other families. Help GO2 Foundation continue to challenge assumptions, disrupt norms and discover breakthroughs. Beth would be all about that!!
Challenge yourself today and help us change the future of lung cancer. Together, we will continue to break barriers and save lives. Oorah! #BeatLungCancer #MyPerfectMarathon
