My Perfect Marathon!
Update! Hey friends! So, my plan to run the NYC Marathon this year has been canceled because of Covid 10, like most events right now. Instead, I will be creating and running My Perfect Marathon where I will be running the FULL 26.2 mile NEW York City Marathon right here in Wisconsin, on the Sugar River Trail this Fall. As I continue to train the next 4 months, I hope you can support me as I continue my campaign to cancel CANCER someday! No donation is ever too small: it's your kindness that will be most remembered and appreciated!
Namaste.
March 2021.
Covid 19 Quarantine. If you are like me, you are washing your hands until they become raw, and sanitizing everything that comes into your sight. You are spending most of your quarantine frantically Googling all the escalating CoronaVirus cases, checking for respiratory symptoms, and taking steamy eucalyptus baths to clean your lungs.
You are maniacally gathering data on how to boost your immune system, eating an antioxidant rich diet, and thinking twice about eating that Krispy Creme because it can form excess mucus in your lungs. You are practicing deep breathing techniques and to increase your lung capacity, and you are staying a galaxy away from crowds, let alone one person who merely clears their throat.
You don’t know if it’s even safe to kiss your husband anymore if he has the sniffles. You are calling Mom to check on her everyday, but mostly because you are afraid and want to hear her voice.
Welcome to our new Normal.
For a lung cancer patient, this is just another day. This HAS been their Normal. This is their Everyday. With the onset of the Coronavirus Pandemic, we can somewhat relate to what an immunocompromised, or lung cancer patient goes through. Their fears, their dis-ease, their suffering: but I can only surmise.
Today, I’ve decided to stop obsessing about Covid 19, and put my energy into helping those who have been fighting ferocious respiratory battles long before this all came down. The freedom to breathe has never been so inviolable, and my hope is that we all will have the gift to enjoy every inhale and exhale…
Through My Perfect Marathon, I will be running to help fund therapies and research for lung cancer patients. I will run in memory of loved ones who have passed away from this vicious disease, and in honor of all those who are struggling to take another breath. I will be running in honor of all who have lost their lives or loved ones to Covid19 as well.
Please help me support GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. The funds I raise will advance their mission to transform survivorship by improving the lives of those vulnerable, at risk, and diagnosed with lung cancer.
If you would like to be part of my local cheer squad, please let me know!
With my deepest thanks,
Namaste
