My Perfect Marathon page
In November of 2019, I ran my first half marathon. This was going to be the check on my bucket list. I felt great and accomplished that day - but one thing was missing - I didn't hear from my always supportive, always encouraging, endurance althlete cousin, Beth. What I didn't know was how sick she had become - because she was also always stoic. About 10 days later, the world lost her beautiful soul.
Then - I knew I would run in her memory... maybe another half... something - because finishing the half made me want to share this with her. At her memorial service - I learned that her running friends were planning to run a marathon in her memory.. And damn it, Beth.. now I have to run a marathon (I don't really like running. I see it as an efficient exercise - period)
We partnered with Go To Foundation - a charity near and dear to Beth - which raises money for lung cancer research and we were set to run the Marine Corp Marathon.
And then.. covid.
With so many group races canceled this year, I have decided to keep training and create My Perfect Marathon. It is an opportunity to design my perfect race wherever and whenever I choose, while honoring those impacted by lung cancer and running with Beth in mind. Not much stopped her - and so a pandemic won't stop me.
Please help me support GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. The funds I raise will advance their mission to transform survivorship by improving the lives of those vulnerable, at risk, and diagnosed with lung cancer.
You can also join my Cheer Squad on event day, if you are in the area. I am planning on running on Sunday, October 26 (weather permitting) as this was the slated Marine Corp marathon day.
However you can help - I will appreciate it. This run will challenge my brain and my body - and knowing I have your support will help me cross that finish line.
